Supply List
Please always feel free to substitute with items you already have on hand!
• A Gel plate, 8”x10” or larger. (I would recommend https://www.gelliarts.com/ or http://gelpress.com/. DO NOT use a Speedball gel plate as it doesn’t work as well with acrylics.)
• Paper: a lot of paper for printmaking! You can use masa, hosho, sumi-e paper, and/or 50# or 60# cheap drawing paper
• Brayer, soft rubber, 2” – 3”
• Golden OPEN Acrylic paints and Fluid Acrylics. Include some transparent and some opaque colors.
• 8oz bottle of Blick Matte Acrylic white or any good, opaque white
• Acrylic matte medium (any brand) or soft gel (NOT heavy gel)
• Paint brushes in a few sizes and shapes, especially small flat ones
• Any textured surfaces you can find to make texture on your gel plate, including rubber combs, or similar tools
• Drawing tools such as crayons, pens, graphite pencils, markers; I recommend Posca Pens (paint markers) or Aristro, and Caran d’Ache Neocolor II crayons
• Four or five 9″x12″ sheets of cardstock or Yupo for making masks and stencils, Plastic container for water (think quart yoghurt container)
• Scissors, Big fat roll of paper towels, palette of your choice
• Glue stick – Uhu is fine, or any other brand that is not purple
Optional: Acrylic glazing liquid/medium (this keeps your fluid acrylics wet longer and extends them)
