The Forums are now open! Participation is completely optional but can be the best way to stay connected with the material and each other. We’ve gotten feedback over the years that ours are some of the nicest forums around, so please join in if you can!

Supply List

These are the supplies that Michéle uses herself, and links are provided for your convenience. However, Please always feel free to substitute items with supplies you already have in your studio!

Supplies for Making the Drawings:

India ink
• a pad of Strathmore 400 Series drawing paper (we will be drawing A LOT!)
Tjanting Tool: Be sure to get the small tip.
Brushes of various sizes, watercolor brushes work well (I use sizes 0-4 a lot)
Bamboo pen
Micron Pens
• Small sticks from your yard or walks
Small set of gouache. I use the 12 color set. I’m including the less expensive smaller set as another option too… or you can simply use watercolors (though white gouache is important!).
• optional: gold acrylic paint for small details
• To cut down paper to smaller sizes: a metal ruler, cutting mat and Exacto or Olfa Knife (OR, a paper cutter)
• studio supplies such as containers for water (something that won’t easily tip over), baby wipes and paper towels, container for mixing paint (like a small yogurt container)
• 2-3 small containers with lids for india ink

Supplies for Mounting Drawings to wood panels:

• Wood Panels in three sizes (5”x5”, 6”x8”, 8”x10”); one of each size

Gel matte medium (it’s important that it’s GEL medium in this case)
• bone folder
white acrylic paint
• painters tape
Dorland’s wax protection
Olfa Knife
• Good quality 2″ sponge brushes from hardware store

Other things you might want handy: Newsprint or scrap paper, heavy books, paper towels, wet wipes, a soft brush to remove dust (optional)
