Hi Everyone!
I’m happy to announce that I will be teaching another international workshop in 2027, this time in Scotland!
This will be my fourth retreat hosted by UpTrek, and I have been so grateful during the previous workshops that the logistics are so well thought-out and taken care of so that we can really focus on enjoying a true “retreat” experience, combining all of our favorite things: art, food & travel!
During our stay we will eat delicious, chef-made meals (vegan, vegetarian, GF, etc. available) and enjoy inspiration from the surrounding landscape, with visits to Loch Lomond, nestled within the sweeping Trossachs National Park and Stirling Castle, just to name a few.

The main event will be our time together spent drawing, painting, collaging and gel-printing three small artist books using our imaginations, our surroundings and each other as inspiration. The class is titled “Creativity Lab,” which means we will be playing with lots of mixed-media techniques and creative drawing exercises.
Here are the three projects we’ll work on:
Book #1
We’ll start with a little pre-printed booklet filled with old paintings and photographs of our Scottish ancestors… and then we’ll draw the characters and then take scissors and collage to the pages and create a fun, interactive book complete with windows and pop-out pages.
Book #2
Our second book structure will be inspired by the architecture of Scotland and incorporate layers of sprayed-through-lace watercolor and mixed media!
Book #3
Finally, we will pull out the gel plate and create colorful, layered background pages, bind them into a playful, lay-flat structure, and then add animals, plants, people and more to our pages.
